A disciplinary hearing dragged on at length, with
grievous consequences for the individual’s family.
Mariam prayed for a resolution to this suffering. She
asked the Rabbi, “What about mercy?”
Rabbi Jesus answered, “Sometimes mercy puts right what
justice can’t.”
