PLEASANT LIES VERSUS UNPLEASANT TRUTHS

Mariam experienced resentment from others when she expressed unpalatable truth about a difficult situation. Subsequently, steps were taken to solve the problem. Thereafter, Mariam felt shunned.

Remorsefully Mariam told the Rabbi, "I caused the upheaval." Rabbi Jesus answered, "You lanced the abscess."

Do not fall into the trap of preferring to deal with pleasant lies instead of unpleasant truths. However, do not expect to be popular when you reveal unvarnished truth in the pursuit of justice and integrity.

EXPECTATION

Mariam heard of a lady who was berated after declining to go to a social event after suffering  bereavement. It was apparently expected of  the lady that she leave this shattering experience to one side and attend the event. Mariam was nonplussed.

She told the Rabbi, "It would seem that the person requiring this is . . ."

Rabbi Jesus answered, "A master of the unrealistic expectation."

It is important to acknowledge and show compassion for the sufferings of others.

GATEKEEPER

Mariam was called to the Master's service.

Rabbi Jesus told her, "I have called you to be a spiritual gatekeeper."

Experienced believers often are able to offer guidance to help others progress safely on their personal paths to holiness.

THE TRUTH

An acquaintance told Mariam, "I don't believe you."

Nonplussed, Mariam turned to the Master.

Rabbi Jesus told her, "The truth is the truth.

It is a neutral deposit of factual matter.

Whether it is believed or not neither adds nor detracts from it.

It simply is."

You may not always be believed when you tell the truth. Be at peace - all will be revealed on the Last Day.

WINDING UP WISDOM

                                                                                                                                 Freepik

Mariam witnessed a disciple - who had spent all her days in the pursuit of holiness - nearing end of life.

She said to the Rabbi, " She is . . . "

Rabbi Jesus answered, "Winding up the wisdom of a well-spent life."

Pursue God and the things of God - then you will not fear the judgement after death.

ANXIETY ABOUT THE FUTURE

                                                                                                                                                    Freepik

Mariam spoke with dear St Michael, the Archangel.

She told him: "I am so anxious about the future. Will I have a place to stay? How will I manage for food and all I need? Where will I be?

Michael told her, "God guided you all the way to here.

What will be so different then?"

Trust in God, even when all seems bleak. Live from hand to mouth - God's Hand to your mouth.

If we had everything, we would not need to pray the Lord's Prayer, asking for our daily needs. Trust in the relationship between God and yourself - Divine Providence will always care for you.
